MBSE coursework teaches a notation (SysML) + a discipline (citation, traceability, V&V). Notation tools (Cameo, Capella, MagicDraw Education) cover the notation. Blueprint covers the discipline — generating the artifact set the notation is supposed to describe, with every claim cited. Together, the two layers show students the whole picture.
Two layers of MBSE pedagogy.
A typical graduate MBSE course tries to teach two things at once:
- The notation: SysML 2 (or 1.x) — how blocks, requirements, activities, ports, allocations are represented in a model.
- The discipline: Why a shall-statement carries a verification method, why an MOE traces to a stakeholder concern, what “Allocated Baseline” means and how PDR criteria check against it.
Most courses spend the semester on the notation. Students graduate fluent in SysML and uncertain about the discipline. Blueprint inverts that — students see the discipline working on a real brief, then pick up the notation as the representation of what they already understand.
The standards exports Blueprint generates (SysML 2 textual + JSON, SysML 1.x XMI for 1.5/1.6/1.7 profiles) drop into Cameo / Capella / Rhapsody so students can study the same artifact set in both forms — the discipline view (markdown + citations) and the notation view (model).

Does Blueprint replace teaching SysML / Cameo / Capella?
No. Notation tools and Blueprint cover different layers. Use them together: Blueprint generates the artifact set; SysML 2 / SysML 1.x XMI exports drop into Cameo or Capella for a notation-layer exercise. The two views are the same content.
What about MagicDraw Education licenses we already have?
Continue using them for the notation layer. Blueprint's SysML 2 / 1.x XMI output imports cleanly. Treat Blueprint as the artifact-content side; treat MagicDraw as the model-representation side. The semester budget covers both.
Is there an LMS integration?
Not yet. Students sign up Free individually (no card, ~30 seconds). Institutional LMS / SSO / per-seat billing is roadmapped; reach out if your institution needs it now.
